Hardly any other winery stands for high-quality Barolos and Barbarescos as much as Pio Cesare. The entry into the world of these top wines is the Langhe Nebbiolo. It also consists of 100 percent Nebbiolo and the grapes for the wine were harvested in the surroundings of Barolo and Barbaresco. Stylistically it is very similar to the great models, but is accessible after only a short period of maturation. The Langhe Nebbiolo offers enjoyment after just five years, while you should have a lot more patience for its bigger siblings. Although Langhe Nebbiolo is drinkable early, its production still requires a lot of effort: the must spends 20 days in contact with the skins to reach full concentration. It then matures patiently for 24 months in large oak barrels and sometimes in small French barriques. The result is a wine with lots of body, firm structure and great aging potential. The fruit is comparatively intense and ripe, but at the same time fresh and with very gentle tannins. Welcome to the world of Pio Cesare!

The wine has a ruby ​​red color in the glass. The aroma is reminiscent of red berries and dried spices. When young, it is still reserved in the mouth and only opens with more air. Then it develops its wonderful freshness and purity, which perfectly highlights the characteristics of the Nebbiolo grape.

Pio Cesare

Die Kellerei Pio Cesare, gegründet 1881 von Cesare Pio, ist eine historische Weinstätte in Alba, Piemont.
