Pio Cesare Langhe DOC Sauvignon 2022 - 0.75l
Pio Cesare is not only dedicated to the great red wines of the Langhe region. Since the 1980s they have also been working on white wine varieties, starting with the pure Chardonnay called "Piodilei". Sauvignon was added in the 2000s. With the 2022 harvest we present the Sauvignon from our own vineyards on the northern slope of the "Bricco di Treiso" and in "Bossania" in Trezzo Tinella, at an altitude of about 480 meters. The wine is fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in barriques (50% of which are new) and left on the lees for around 6 months.
The result is a strong white wine with aromas of tropical fruits, spices and butter, as well as a hint of herbs on the finish. Today, Pio Boffa's direct descendants run the winery in Alba, including his cousin Augusto, his grandson Cesare Benvenuto and his daughter Federica Rosy. They cultivate 75 hectares of vineyards and produce around 420,000 bottles of wine.
