Tramari Rosé of Primitivo Salento 2022 - San Marzano
The idea of producing a rosé from the Primitivo grape variety came from a suggestion from some restaurant owners and chefs in Puglia. They asked the president of San Marzano for his opinion, and so the Tramari was born. The name “Tramari” stands for “Tra i mari,” which means “between the two seas” – a reference to the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea that surround IGP Salento.
The Primitivo grapes for this rosé grow in Salento at around 100 meters above sea level. They benefit from high average temperatures and medium to low rainfall. The grapes were harvested in the first week of September and fermented in steel tanks after a few hours of contact with the berry skin. The sea breezes and the chalky, rocky subsoil contribute to the characteristic taste.
The result is an extremely fresh, drinkable rosé with Mediterranean aromas and notes of cherries and raspberries. The 2017 vintage received 87 points from Meininger's Weinwelt in the Rosé International tasting 4_2018.
