Quinta do Carmo

Die Quinta do Carmo bei Estremoz im Alentejo geht auf das 17. Jahrhundert zurück, als König João IV. das Anwesen erwarb; ihren Namen verdankt sie einer Kapelle, die Nossa Senhora do Carmo geweiht ist. 1992 ging Júlio Bastos eine Partnerschaft mit dem Bordeaux-Haus Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) ein, das die Hälfte der Rebflächen und der Marke übernahm. Seit 2008 gehört die Quinta vollständig zur Bacalhôa-Gruppe und ist heute deren Zentrum für die Weinbereitung im Alentejo.
