The renowned Niepoort winery presents the Bioma Crusted Port, a cuvée of exceptional quality. This special blend is made up of different vintages, with the majority of the grapes coming from 2012. Winemaking was carried out in the traditional way with stems in Lagares, followed by aging in 500 liter barrels in the Douro. The wine was bottled unfiltered or filtered and appears in the glass in a deep red with bluish reflections at the edge. The reserved nose reveals primarily dark berry aromas. On the palate, the port wine is well structured and full-bodied, with a long finish characterized by blackberries and plums.
This port wine goes excellently with dark chocolate desserts, egg desserts such as the Portuguese sponge cake Pão de Ló and classically with blue cheese such as Stilton or the Portuguese Queijo da Serra.
