The Coche Branco 2022 from Niepoort is not only our most exclusive white wine, but also a wine that aims to reach far beyond the expression of the vineyard, the region and even its origin. The old vines and the altitude are largely responsible for the success of this wine. Every year the challenge is to harmoniously combine acidity and body in order to create a fresh and at the same time extremely storable wine. With a profile reminiscent of a premium Burgundy, the Coche is probably Niepoort's most sought-after white wine gem. The aim is to perfectly combine the expression of the fruit with the complexity of maturation in French wood. The barrels used for the first time come from the Tonnellerie François Frères and are lightly toasted. On the nose, the wood presents itself with hints of honey, dried fruits and brioche, which harmonize wonderfully with notes of apricot, citrus fruits and herbal nuances. The palate reveals a structure reminiscent of great Burgundies: the wine is elegant, with moderate alcohol content and impressive aromatic depth. The aftertaste is powerful, long-lasting and is supported by an outstanding acid structure that indicates fantastic aging potential.
